Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate
knowledge of processing carried out in a continuous heat
setting line; comply with company and statutory health, safety,
and environment requirements; process yarn using continuous
heat setting line; clean continuous heat setting line and work
area.

Explanatory notes
1
Performance of the elements must comply with the Hazardous Substances and New
Organisms Act 1996; the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992; and the
Resource Management Act 1991.

work activities and include health and safety, operational, environmental, and quality
management requirements. They may refer to manuals, manufacturer's
specifications, codes of practice, or policy statements.

and operation.

Evidence requirements
2.1
Company-supplied clothing, and hygiene and safety equipment and materials,
are worn and used in accordance with workplace procedures and statutory
requirements.
2.2
Work methods comply with workplace procedures and statutory requirements to
minimise the risk of ill-health and injuries to self and others.
2.3
Unsafe and unhealthy conditions are identified and reported in accordance with
workplace procedures and statutory requirements.

Process yarn using a continuous heat setting line.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Yarn is processed in accordance with workplace procedures.
Range
3.2
machine – creel maintained, blockages and stoppages cleared,
broken ends mended, winder maintained;
production – production weighed, identified and recorded
according to workplace requirement.
Samples are taken in accordance with workplace procedures.
Outcome 4
Clean continuous heat setting line and work area.
Evidence requirements
4.1
Machine and work area is kept clean and waste yarn is collected and sorted in
accordance with workplace procedures.
4.2
Cleanliness of equipment and work area complies with workplace procedures.
