Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate
knowledge of the function and components of scuba regulators,
hoses, buoyancy compensation devices, and gauges. This unit
standard is designed for those people in the dive equipment
servicing industry who will undertake manufacturer-specific
servicing training.

Explanatory notes
1
The range of equipment covered by this unit standard includes all makes and models
of first stage regulator, second stage regulator, high pressure hoses, low pressure
hoses, buoyancy compensation devices, and gauges.

Current standards that apply to dive equipment include AS/NZS 2299.1:1999
Occupational diving operations – Standard operational procedures, and AS 3848.21999 Filling of portable cylinders for SCUBA and SCBA – Site procedures.

Evidence must comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment
Act 1992, Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995, and the Injury
Prevention, Rehabilitation, and Compensation Act 2001.

Demonstrate knowledge of scuba regulators, hoses, buoyancy compensation devices, and
gauges.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Functions of scuba equipment are explained in relation to the provision of
compressed air and buoyancy to a diver.
1.2
Manufacturer of a given item of equipment is identified.
