NZQA registered unit standard 24549 version 2 Page 1 of 2 Title Clean the milking plant, vats or silos, dairy and yards Level 3 Credits 9 Purpose This unit standard is intended for people who are working as a milk harvester on a dairy farm, and recognises the knowledge and skills required to clean the milking plant, vats or silos; and clean farm dairy and yards after milking. Classification Agriculture > Dairy Farming Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes, but is not limited to – Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Animal Welfare Act 1999, and their subsequent amendments. 2 Performance of all aspects of this unit standard should comply with the Ministry of Primary Industries codes of welfare for dairy livestock, and their subsequent amendments available at http://www.mpi.govt.nz. 3 Learners are expected to comply with all workplace procedures. For the purpose of this unit standard workplace procedures refer to the verbal or written instructions to staff on procedures for animal health, welfare, and management, therefore should be considered for assessment of all outcomes. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Clean the milking plant, and vats or silos. Evidence requirements 1.1 Calculates detergent quantities for milking plant cleaning in accordance with the establish plan cleaning routine. 1.2 Implements plant cleaning routine in accordance with workplace procedures. 1.3 Sets up milking plant for next milking in accordance with workplace procedures. Outcome 2 Clean farm dairy and yards after milking.
