Explanatory notes 1 All workplace practices must meet any applicable and recognised codes of practice, and documented workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures for personal, product, workplace health, safety, and environmental matters, and the obligations required under current law including the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, Resource Management Act 1991, Privacy Act 1993 and their subsequent amendments. 2 Workplace practices refer to the documented procedures for the machine and/or workplace. Evidence requirements 1.1 Requirements for the sequence of switch-on routines and checks are explained in terms of workplace practices. Outcome 2 Make chops in the board. Evidence requirements 2.1 Chop lengths are confirmed against the job specifications. Range for direct drive knives= + 1mm; for non direct drive knives = – 2mm to + 10mm. 2.2 Actions to be taken in the event of the failure of the chop knife or any component to perform in accordance with operating requirements are explained in terms of workplace practices. 2.3 Chop lengths outside specified dimensions are reported or rectified immediately in accordance with workplace practices. 2.4 Board is chopped to meet the requirements of the job specifications. Range 2.5 clean cuts, free of crush or other damage. The pull roller and any other peripheral components perform in accordance with equipment operating requirements. Outcome 3 Follow safety requirements for the equipment being used. Range operating manual, workplace practices. Evidence requirements 3.1 Equipment start up, shutdown and emergency procedures in the workplace are explained. 3.2 Hazard control measures, as circulated by the company, are described and followed. 3.3 Hazards or potential hazards in the workplace are identified and reported in accordance with workplace practices. 3.4 Waste, scrap and rubbish are removed from the work area.
