Explanatory notes 1 All workplace practices must meet any applicable and recognised codes of practice, and documented workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures for personal, product, workplace health, safety, and environmental matters, and the obligations required under current law including the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, Resource Management Act 1991, Privacy Act 1993 and their subsequent amendments. 2 Workplace practices refer to the documented procedures for the machine and/or workplace. 3 Workplace practices on accepting and acting on various levels of warp will vary. Competenz SSB Code 101571 New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 NZQA Expiring unit standard 4 3758 version 6 Page 2 of 4 The process for defining and calculating warp percentages for the purposes of assessment is as follows: when a warped board is laid on a level surface so as to form a shallow arch, the maximum vertical deviation from the horizontal is expressed as a percentage of the board dimension that forms the arch. Warp is assessed at take-off, and thus excludes ‘post-warp’. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Check documentation and confirm availability of required components. Evidence requirements 1.1 Job documentation is checked to ensure that all specifications for the process being undertaken are complete and any discrepancies are reported in accordance with workplace practices. 1.2 Components required for the job are checked against job documentation and their availability confirmed. 1.3 Availability of equipment, as determined by the job documentation, is confirmed. Outcome 2 Select and prepare a pallet for stacking. Evidence requirements 2.1 Procedures for the selection and use of pallets and slip sheets are explained in terms of workplace practices. 2.2 Pallet is selected, from those available in the workplace, to meet the requirements of the job. 2.3 The selected pallet is checked for condition ensuring that there is no damage. Range 2.4 check for – nails, broken boards, moisture, cleanliness. Slip sheets are used in accordance with workplace practices to ensure dimensions and orientation meet the requirements of the job. Evidence requirements 3.1 Knowledge of the actions to be taken when warp occurs is explained in terms of workplace practices. Range 3.2 may include but is not limited to – restacking, alternate stacking and/or step stacking, quarantine, procedure used to notify other crew. Where warp occurs, actions taken are in accordance with workplace practices. Outcome 4 Safely stack the board on the pallet or slip sheet in accordance with workplace practices. Evidence requirements 4.1 Board is stacked to meet the requirements of the job. Range stability, ties inserted, height, free of damage. 4.2 Any alternative stacking that has been used is indicated. 4.3 Top sheets are used to protect the product from damage. 4.4 Pallets are not removed from the take-off work area until labelled. Replacement information This unit standard, unit standard 3771, unit standard 3772, and unit standard 3773 have been replaced by unit standard 27810. This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place by the last date for assessment set out below.
