Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Shut down and isolate a petrochemical wellhead. Performance criteria 1.1 Wellhead plant and equipment are confirmed as being in a safe condition in accordance with site requirements. 1.2 Services to the wellhead are discontinued in accordance with site requirements. 1.3 Designated upstream and downstream plant and equipment are shut down to isolate the wellhead and make the workplace safe. 1.4 The wellhead is shut down safely in accordance with site requirements. 1.5 Record of the shut down is made in accordance with site requirements. 1.6 In the event of any significant deviation from the norm, prompt action is taken to minimise damage. Element 2 Check the integrity of the applied isolation. Performance criteria 2.1 Automatic safety systems are checked and verified in order to ensure the unit has been made safe. 2.2 Checking with field based operators verifies both the nature and reliability of the shut down. 2.3 Checking verifies that all residual materials have been removed from the plant. 2.4 Checking verifies that services to all areas of the wellhead remain isolated. 2.5 Checking verifies that all potentially affected areas of the wellhead remain in shut down condition.
