Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to prepare
establishment equipment for customer use, and provide
establishment equipment to customers in a commercial
hospitality environment.

Explanatory notes
1
Definitions
Establishment requirements – any policy, procedure, or agreed requirement, either
written or oral, that is made known to the candidate prior to assessment against this
unit standard.
Establishment equipment – refers to commercial equipment provided for customers
use, eg electronic whiteboard, whiteboards, overhead projectors, data projectors,
videos, televisions, DVDs.

Candidates undertaking assessment against this unit standard are expected to
comply with the – Privacy Act 1993, Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992,
Innkeepers Act 1962.

For the purpose of this unit standard evidence will be required that customers are
greeted and treated in all interactions in a polite, friendly, and helpful manner.

This unit standard must be assessed against in a realistic workplace environment.
The candidate must be under realistic time pressures, use relevant commercial
equipment, and have realistic customer/staff ratios. Examples for each sector can be
found in AMAP 0112.

1.1
Establishment equipment available for customer use is clearly identified as
belonging to the establishment in accordance with establishment requirements.
1.2
Establishment equipment for customer use is kept safe, operational, free from
damage, and available for immediate use in accordance with establishment
requirements.
Outcome 2
Provide establishment equipment to customers in a commercial hospitality environment.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Customer need for establishment equipment is confirmed in accordance with
establishment requirements.
2.2
Customers are informed of the conditions for equipment use and necessary
operating instructions in accordance with establishment requirements.
2.3
Establishment equipment provided to customers is recorded in accordance with
establishment requirements.
2.4
Establishment equipment is collected after use and collection from customer is
recorded in accordance with establishment requirements.
2.5
Procedures for billing for unreturned equipment are followed in accordance with
establishment requirements.

have been replaced by unit standard 27931.

Providers must be granted consent to assess against standards (accredited) by NZQA,
before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses
