This is a specialist unit standard for people in the signmaking
industry.
People credited with this unit standard are able to: prepare for
spray work using an airbrush and spray gun; execute special
effects; and complete work clean-up.

Explanatory notes
1
All work practices shall meet the requirements of relevant legislation, including Health
and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Resource Management Act 1991, and the
requirements of industry codes of practice and documented enterprise procedures in
respect to health, safety, and environmental matters.

Reference to company policy means any policies, procedures, and requirements of
the company involved, and the ethical codes of relevant professional management.

Evidence requirements
2.1
Even coverage of base colours is achieved without gaps and runs using spray
gun.
2.2
Broad detailing is completed using stencils to comply with client specification.

includes but is not limited to – hard or soft edge.
2.3
Fine detailing is achieved using an airbrush to comply with client specification.
2.4
Final brush detailing is completed to comply with client specification.
2.5
Even coverage of protective coating is applied without damage to completed
artwork.
2.6
Spray gun and airbrush are used according to manufacturer's instructions.

Complete work clean-up.
