Facilitate performance of employees and contractors in real estate

This unit standard is for people who intend to operate as
branch managers or agents in the real estate industry.
People credited with this unit standard are able to:
–
make agreements on performance objectives and rewards
with staff in real estate firms;
–
develop a business plan that underpins performance
management of staff;
–
identify and describe key negotiation processes,
leadership styles, and motivational approaches, to be
applied in performance management;
–
appraise the performance of staff;
–
identify and analyse performance problems and explain
methods to improve performance through coaching and
mentoring; and
–
outline a training programme for staff.

Definitions
Industry requirements mean all actions must comply with relevant professional body
standards, legislation, codes of professional conduct and client care, and approved

Leadership styles mean the different approaches, or 'styles' to leadership and
management that individuals use based on a combination of their beliefs, values and

preferences, as well as the organisational culture and norms which will encourage
some styles and discourage others.
Performance management is the process of defining expectations for performance;
measuring, evaluating, and recording performance relative to expectations; and
providing feedback.
Staff refers to both employees and contractors.

Assessment
This unit standard must be assessed on the basis of evidence of demonstrated
performance in the workplace or in simulated work situations designed to draw upon
similar performance to that required in the workplace.
Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Make agreements on performance objectives and rewards with staff in real estate firms.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Agreements concerning performance objectives, standards, and rewards
sought by the parties are reached and implemented in accordance with industry
requirements and are consistent with employment law.
Outcome 2
Develop a business plan that underpins performance management of staff.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Performance objectives selected are consistent with organisational objectives.
Range
performance objectives may include but are not limited to –
appraisal targets, listing targets, cold calls targets, sales targets.
Outcome 3
Identify and describe key negotiation processes, leadership styles, and motivational
approaches, to be applied in performance management.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Negotiation processes identified and described are consistent with
organisational objectives and business plans.
3.2
Leadership styles are identified and described appropriate to individual
requirements of staff.
Range
evidence of a minimum of two different leadership styles is
required.

Motivational approaches are identified and described appropriate to individual
requirements of staff.
Range
evidence of a minimum of two different motivational approaches is
required.
Outcome 4
Appraise the performance of staff.
Evidence requirements
4.1
Performance appraisals are conducted with staff to evaluate performance in
relation to established outcomes.
Outcome 5
Identify and analyse performance problems and explain methods to improve performance
through coaching and mentoring.
Evidence requirements
5.1
The analysis identifies any performance problems for staff.
5.2
Methods used for analysis are explained in terms of identifying the performance
issues for individual staff.
Range
5.3
evidence is required of three different performance issues for an
employee or a contractor.
The provision of coaching and mentoring to improve identified performance
problems is evaluated to establish whether it would meet the needs of the
employer to improve performance of staff.
Outcome 6
Outline a training programme for staff.
Evidence requirements
6.1
A staff training programme is outlined in terms of the needs of staff to enable
them to meet their individual employment terms.
Range
Planned review date
staff training programme includes – a programme for
salespersons, office or administration people, proper management
and supervision of new salespersons.

NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
