People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of: selecting and marking glass for edgeworking, and edgeworking glass manually. Range includes but is not limited to – drilling, countersinking, notching. Evidence requirements 1.1 Process for selecting glass is described in terms of worksite requirements. Range requirements include but are not limited to – meets job specifications or work order or customer order; type, thickness and size of glass; checked for imperfections. 1.2 Process for marking out is identified and described in accordance with worksite requirements. 1.3 Process for preparing equipment is described in accordance with worksite requirements. Range 1.4 preparation includes but is not limited to – selection of drill bits and cutting or grinding tools, checking of coolant or lubricant, checking machine condition and set-up, jigs or templates. Process for operating equipment is identified and described in accordance with worksite requirements. Outcome 2 Demonstrate knowledge of edgeworking glass manually. Evidence requirements 2.1 Types of edgeworking tasks are identified and described in accordance with worksite requirements. Range 2.2 tasks include but are not limited to – rough arris, smooth arris, flat grind, flat polish, round polish, mitre, bevelled edge. Procedures for finishing the glass are described in accordance with worksite requirements. Range includes but is not limited to – clean glass, glass is free from faults, surface or edge damage.
