People credited with this unit standard are able to select and mark glass for drilling and drill and countersink glass. Classification Glass and Glazing > Flat Glass Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Definition Worksite requirements – refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace. These requirements include – company specifications and procedures, work instructions, manufacturer’s specifications, product quality specifications, legislative requirements. 2 Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes – Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Select and mark glass for drilling. Evidence requirements 1.1 Preparation of work area and personal safety precautions are carried out in accordance with worksite requirements. Range 1.2 preparation includes – selection and use of protective clothing and safety equipment, identification of hazards, ventilation of production area, clearing work area, ensuring cleanliness of work area. Selected glass meets the job specification requirements for type, thickness, and size and is checked for imperfections before use in accordance with worksite requirements. Outcome 2 Drill and countersink glass. Evidence requirements 2.1 Machine is set-up in accordance with the job specifications and worksite requirements. set-up includes – loader settings or drilling machine settings. Range 2.2 Machine is operated in accordance with worksite requirements. operation includes – loading, drilling, unloading. Range 2.3 Glass is drilled and countersunk in accordance with worksite requirements. 2.4 Holes are checked for compliance with the job specifications. 2.5 Finished glass is cleaned, labelled or marked, and prepared for further processing or dispatch in accordance with worksite requirements. 2.6 Drilling residue is cleaned from machine and work area is left clean and free from drilling debris in accordance with worksite requirements.
