o Looking at policies that should be system-wide
o Academic renewal
o 5K – 7K students taking classes from multiple colleges.
o Intent is not to be punitive.

o UHPA looking at instrument to perform the task.

o Michele & Amir will develop, 360 executive assessment, or something different.
o Denise: How will UHPA get it to raters?

New Business
Maui Food Innovation Center (MFIC) update – C. Speere & Susan Wyche
o Susan
o Culinary Incubator; many connected with universities & community college
o UHMC will be first incubator in Hawai’i
o Initial capital funding 1.225M, additional funding 2.67M, 500K feasibility study
o Money is available, waiting on Governor’s office to release.
o Program includes Facility, Education, and Services.
o Chris
o Contact Chris & Susan at any time for more details about project.
o Provides resource & training to be food entrepreneurs
o Education: a four course series, SBA growth accelerator
o Facility: Pilina Building, 2nd floor, Laulima 106 Kitchen / Classroom
o Food Summit II, Oct. 2015, to create a food incubation network.
o Laura: Income from space rental?
o Susan: multiple sources of income
o products, facility use, consulting, courses, state & federal grant funding
o MFIC is partially self-sustaining, grants to augment.
o Probably a non-profit but still part of UH.
o Laura: Is college responsible to underfunded situations
o Susan: No, building pipeline for operations & education revenues. Build occupancy of
facility.

Wellness services on campus – D. Cohen & A. Banaag
o Mental health services on campus. Aris is the campus rep.
o Six months ago, County created separate lines for access & crisis.
o Sept. is suicide awareness & prevention month.
o Safe-talk training
o Non-confrontational (CPI) crisis prevention & intervention
o Faculty training available?
o Respect campaign: raise awareness on domestic & sexual violence
o Walk a mile in my shoes event: 3 – 6pm

Sustainability Committee – Tim Botkin
o BOR policy: all campuses will have a sustainability plan.
o Presented overview of Sustainability Planning at UHMC.
o Explain UHMC Sustainability Lens (9-11-2015)
