NZQA Expiring unit standard Title Clean toilet facilities Level 2 1565 version 7 Page 1 of 3 Credits Purpose 4 This unit standard is for people entering the cleaning industry. People credited with this standard are able to: prepare work site; clean toilet facilities; and complete job-related tasks. Classification Cleaning and Caretaking > Cleaning Skills Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Competence demonstrated during assessment against this standard must comply with the requirements of: Employment Relations Act 2000; Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992; Resource Management Act 1991. 2 Equipment and cleaning agents must be used in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. 3 Definitions Flat mop is a type of microfibre mop and can be used in a wet or dry condition. Mop refers to either a string/cotton, sponge or microfibre type, or a flat mop. Industry best practice refers to any enterprise and/or establishment requirements, practices, policy, procedures, methods and protocols which are in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations and New Zealand Standards. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Prepare work site. Evidence requirements 1.1 Equipment is either selected individually or from single station equipment and is clean and in working condition. Range 1.3 1565 version 7 Page 2 of 3 at least one of – signs, cordons, barriers. Personal protective equipment suitable for task being undertaken is selected. Range protective gloves, overalls/uniform, footwear. Outcome 2 Clean toilet facilities. Range may include – showers, hand basins, mirrors, sinks, toilets, urinals, soap dispensers. Evidence of four is required. Evidence requirements 2.1 Plug and drainage holes are free from debris. 2.2 Urinals and toilet units are waste-free after flushing. 2.3 All surfaces are cleaned until free from soil and excess moisture. 2.4 All surfaces are left in a clean and hygienic condition. Outcome 3 Complete job-related tasks. Evidence requirements 3.1 Consumables are replaced to meet demand. Range may include – paper hand tissues, toilet tissue, soap. Evidence of two is required. 3.2 Floors are left soil and mark free and free of excess moisture. 3.3 Equipment is cleaned, checked and stored in accordance with industry best practice.
