Strategic purpose statement
This qualification is intended for people seeking to further
develop their knowledge and skills in Ngā Toi.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop knowledge and
skills of the learner to preserve Ngā Toi art forms for current and
future generations.
Graduates of this qualification will have a further developed set of
fundamental skills and knowledge in Ngā Toi. Graduates will
also be able to create and complete Ngā Toi projects and
contribute to creative communities.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

 Apply appropriate kupu and tikanga practices in context
Outcome Statement

 Apply effective communication skills and strategies to foster

 Define own work in a range of art forms
 Evaluate, critique and present an overview of own Ngā Toi
work and the work of others

 Demonstrate processes to realise project briefs
 Use creative processes, methods, and technologies in
response to a range of practical issues to meet desired
outcomes and/or project briefs
 Apply the fundamental skills of a specific art form to create
and complete Ngā Toi projects
Rangatiratanga (15 credits)
 Research artistic variations of art forms and present findings
 Self-manage project briefs under broad guidance
