Strategic purpose statement
This is a foundation qualification and is intended for people
seeking skills and knowledge in Ngā Toi, with the intention to
complete further study in Ngā Toi and/or the Creative Arts.
The purpose of this qualification is to initiate a starting point for
people with little or no knowledge of Ngā Toi informed by the
expression of te reo and tikanga Māori.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will have basic Ngā Toi skills and
knowledge. Graduates will also be able to contribute to the
creation of Ngā Toi projects under supervision.

 Record processes and techniques required to meet project

 Recognise whakapapa of art forms
 Recognise appropriate kupu and tikanga practices in a Ngā
Toi context

Graduates of this qualification may be qualified to work as
volunteers, interns, trainees, or in other supervised entry-level
roles in all sectors of Ngā Toi.

to work, under supervision, to support Ngā Toi projects with
whānau, hapū, iwi, and hapori.
