The purpose of this qualification is to initiate a starting point for people with little or no knowledge of Ngā Toi informed by the expression of te reo and tikanga Māori. Graduate profile Graduates of this qualification will have basic Ngā Toi skills and knowledge. Graduates will also be able to contribute to the creation of Ngā Toi projects under supervision. Graduates of this qualification will be able to: Horopaki Toi (10 credits) Record processes and techniques required to meet project briefs Recognise whakapapa of art forms Recognise appropriate kupu and tikanga practices in a Ngā Toi context Hātepe Auaha (10 credits) Select and communicate project ideas Collaborate with others Present an overview of own Ngā Toi work Outcome Statement Mahi Toi (30 credits) Describe project briefs Apply basic processes and techniques to meet project briefs Identify elementary problems Education pathway Rangatiratanga (10 credits) Adhere to health and safety responsibilities, time management and cultural safety Follow directions under supervision Identify and record information sources New Zealand Certificate in Ngā Toi (Level 3) This qualification will also pathway to others that are currently in development, including the New Zealand Certificate in Creativity and Arts (Level 3) and the Employment pathway Community and Cultural pathways New Zealand Certificate in Arts and Design (Level 3) Graduates of this qualification may be qualified to work as volunteers, interns, trainees, or in other supervised entry-level roles in all sectors of Ngā Toi. Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to work, under supervision, to support Ngā Toi projects with whānau, hapū, iwi, and hapori.
