Biology PAP Lesson Plan 9/29 5A(R): SWBAT Describe the stages of the cell cycle, including DNA replication and mitosis, and the importance of the cell cycle to the growth of organisms. 5D(S): SWBAT recognize that disruptions of the cell cycle lead to diseases such as cancer. 9/30 Warm-Up: Students will be asked to think about how they grew from a baby to a teenager. Students should be prepared to share their answers. Guided Practice: View video on cellular reproduction Guided notes 5A(R): SWBAT Describe the stages of the cell cycle, including DNA replication and mitosis, and the importance of the cell cycle to the growth of organisms. Warm-Up: List the 4 stages of Mitosis 5D(S): SWBAT recognize that disruptions of the cell cycle lead to diseases such as cancer. Independent Practice: Students will begin cell cycle flip book 10/1- 5A(R): SWBAT Describe the 10/2 stages of the cell cycle, including DNA replication and mitosis, and the importance of the cell cycle to the growth of organisms. 5B(S): Examine specialized cells including roots, stems, leaves of plants; and animal cells such as blood muscle and epithelium. HW: Read chapter 8 over cell reproduction HW: Study guided notes Guided Practice: Finish guided notes Hand gesture exercise for mitosis stages Warm-up/Assessment: Students will be given a print out of cell cycle/mitosis and will label the stages. Independent Practice: Students will be given 15-20 minutes to view prepared onion epithelium under a microscope. Students will work on and finish cell cycle flip book Warm up will be collected for participation grade. HW: Breast Cancer Reading and analysis questions. Guided Practice: Have a discussion about cell division based on the findings of the mini lab 10/3 Fall Holiday, no school Plans are subject to change to support the needs of the classroom.
