Monday 12/1
Objective: I will be able to collaborate with my group in order to determine the objective of my
persuasive debate project.
1. Introduce Persuasive Debate Project
2. Get into Debate Groups
3. Read assigned article and decide on the question, “What are we debating as a group?”
Tuesday 12/2
Objective: I will be able to analyze a news article for rhetorical purpose.
1. Group Activity: Step 2 of the Debate Project- SOAPStone Chart
2. Individual Work: Annotate the assigned article for your specific appeal (ethos/pathos/logos).
Homework: Complete individual annotation for homework
Wednesday 12/3 and Thursday 12/4
Objective: I will be able to continue analyzing a work of fiction for rhetorical purpose and transfer
those objectives to my own work with a piece of non-fiction.
1. Animal Farm Chapter 9: Guided Listening/Notes
2. Group Activity: Step 4 of the Debate Project- Rhetorical Devices Chart
3. Discuss Outline for Individual Paper (Step 5)
4. Begin writing individual portion of the Debate Project
Friday 12/5
Objective: I will be able to create my own piece of persuasive rhetoric.
1. Finish individual portion of the Debate Project
2. Receive Presentation Rubric
3. Get into groups to discuss presentation/visuals
Homework: Finish Individual Portion if necessary/ Create visual component
