Monday Week of August 25-29, 2014 Teacher: Kindred Team: APUSH Weekly Learning Targets I will compare the different ESP structures of the native populations of North America. I will analyze how the Columbian Exchange resulted from European expansion overseas. I will trace the change of over time of contacts among American Indians, Africans, and Europeans. I can apply the concepts of the Seven Themes of APUSH Activities: 1. Do Now- Students will complete the new student survey 2. Class Handouts – course content, course info, reading schedule, first study guide Materials: Syllabus, Contract Follow Up/HW: Follow the Reading Schedule Activities: 1. Do Now- Students will list required materials for class. 2. Why Study History?- In groups, students will generate a list of reasons why it is important to study history. Groups will share out and class will identify common responses. Students will then view a short video clip and complete a quick write where they will defend their point of view on the most important reason to study history. 3. Goals Sheet- Students will identify their academic and personal goals for the 1st 6 weeks. Materials: Goals Sheet Follow Up/HW: Follow the Reading Schedule Wed/Thur Activities: 1. Do Now- What is the most important reason to study history? 2. Seven Themes of US History Activity- Students will read over the 7 themes of US History. Then, students will create their own definition for each theme and connect the themes to their own lives. Afterwards, students will read over the historical thinking skills and apply ONE to their personal information. *DAILY GRADE* Materials: Follow Up/HW: : Follow the Reading Schedule, Sign Contract and Bring Supplies to Class on FRIDAY 8/29 Friday Activities: 1. Do Now- Define one theme of APUSH. 2. Notes – Paleolithic Migration Routes and Early Native American Settlements. 3.
