2. Cooperative Learning: The French and Indian War- In groups, students will be analyzing the
events of the French and Indian War by creating a timeline highlighting the major events of
the war.
3. Writing Skills: SAQ and Thesis Statements- Students will practice answering APUSH SAQs
and thesis statements.

Weekly Learning Targets
I can trace late 17th century efforts to integrate the colonies into an imperial structure and pursue
mercantilist economic aims and explain how these efforts met with scant success due to colonial
resistance - which led to salutary neglect.
I can analyze resistance to imperial control in the colonies as a result of experiences with selfgovernment, local ideas of liberty, the Enlightenment, and diversity.
Activities: OPEN HOUSE TONIGHT
1. Do Now- Describe the historical significance of the year 1607
2. Class Discussion: The Beginnings of the French and Indian War- Students will discuss the
events that led to the outbreak of the Seven Years War.
3. Review Activity: 6 Degrees of Separation- Students will participate in a group activity to
review Period 2 content. Students will be given 2 dates: 1607 and 1754. Then, students must
select 6 events/developments in chronological order that connect the two dates.
Materials: Poster paper
Follow Up/HW: Follow reading schedule AND Study for multiple choice assessment TOMORROW
Activities:
1. Do Now- Describe one effect of the French and Indian War.
2. APUSH Multiple-Choice Question Practice- Students will practice answering APUSH style
multiple-choice questions
3. APUSH Recap Quiz- Students will complete a 20 multiple-choice question quiz reviewing
information covered in Chapters 1-3.
