“Political Economy Analysis of Education in PostConflict Societies”

“Governance of a sector - and the way in which politics and
institutions interact within that sector – will have a critical
impact on sector policies and services” (Joint Donor
Workshop, DFID, EC, UNDP, World Bank, 2009).
There is increasing recognition that blockages to education
reform can be political, and that technical solutions alone
may be insufficient. This presentation examines how
Political Economy Analysis (PEA) can help us to better
understand the dynamics within the education sector, and
inform development agencies of how their own
interventions may have a positive or negative impact on
attempts at education reform in post-conflict societies.
