COURSE/CATALOG DESCRIPTION
This course includes as topics to be covered, the analysis of real estate lending policies and problems in
financing; transactions in residential, apartment, commercial and special purpose properties. Methods of
financing properties will be emphasized. This course applies toward the state educational requirements for the
salesperson/agent and broker’s examination. Not repeatable.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
At the completion of the course the student will be able to:
Demonstrate and employ his/her knowledge and skill in the financing of real estate.
Utilize the course to satisfy Department of Real Estate licensing requirements.

Orientation and introduction to RE Finance
The mortgage market and its relationship to the economy
Sources of funds for mortgage lending [General and CA]
Conventional, FHA and VA loan programs
Mathematics of RE finance, financial analysis and taxation.
Legal aspects of RE finance
Loan application, processing and property appraisal
Construction, tract, purchase-leaseback and leasehold financing
Special purpose and Income property financing
Alternative, junior financing, overlapping deeds of trust and hypothecation.
Summary and problem solving.
