Students will continue to explore the creation of figurative sculpture using traditional and contemporary materials and processes as they apply to the creation of more complex figures and compositions. Students will continue to develop and refine their personal style and aesthetic. COURSE OBJECTIVES At the completion of the course the student will be able to: Demonstrate a high level skill in the handling of figurative sculpture by using multifarious materials including ceramic, wood, and mixed media. Demonstrate knowledge of historical and contemporary subjects, techniques, and media. Recognize, and evaluate 3D design issues and esthetics as they apply to the sculpture they create. Demonstrate the ability to create large scale, or life-size sculpture. COURSE CONTENT: (In detail; attach additional information as needed and include percentage breakdown) 25 % Expressive potential of sculpture. 25 % Assignments in 3-dimensional design, using images, plans, maquettes, and the live model. 25 % Research and creation of original sculptural works. 25 % Critique and review of projects, assigned readings and problems, including class discussions.
