Students will continue to explore figurative sculpture through traditional and contemporary materials and processes. Although students work from direct observation, emphasis for this course is on the expressive potential of the media and figure itself. Largescale works are encouraged and alternative materials and surface treatments are explored. COURSE OBJECTIVES At the completion of the course the student will be able to: Demonstrate a high level skill in the handling of figurative sculpture, clay preparation, and sculpture in other media, including bronze casting, Express their personal style in a variety of media Recognize, and evaluate 3D design issues and esthetics as they apply to the sculpture they create. Demonstrate the ability to create large scale, or life-size sculpture. COURSE CONTENT: (In detail; attach additional information as needed and include percentage breakdown) 25 % Anatomy and sculptural construction studies 25 % Assignments in 3-dimensional design, using images, plans, maquettes, and the live model. 25 % Research traditional and contemporary materials and processes necessary to create life-size and large scale 25 % sculpture Critique and review of projects, assigned readings and problems, including class discussions.
