COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed for students who have already established beginning skills in figurative sculpture. Students will
continue to explore figurative sculpture through traditional and contemporary materials and processes. Although students
work from direct observation, emphasis for this course is on the expressive potential of the media and figure itself. Largescale works are encouraged and alternative materials and surface treatments are explored.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of the course the student will be able to:
Demonstrate a high level skill in the handling of figurative sculpture, clay preparation, and sculpture in other media,
including bronze casting,
Express their personal style in a variety of media
Recognize, and evaluate 3D design issues and esthetics as they apply to the sculpture they create.
Demonstrate the ability to create large scale, or life-size sculpture.
