issues. This takes instructional time from the beginning and
end of each class session. For that reason it is Art
Department’s policy that we meet four hours, rather than
three hours, for one unit of credit.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides a study and practice of technical and compositional elements in opaque acrylic painting. Students need no
previous experience in art. Not repeatable.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of the course the student will be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of the basic elements of composition.
Exhibit basic control of the medium of acrylic paints and painting tools.
Differentiate between realistic, abstract, and non-objective painting.
Translate three dimensional objects on to a two dimensional surface.
Communicate creativity and expression in projects.
Demonstrate an understanding of the psychological and emotional potential of color.
