See attached for challenge policy. There is no advisory for this course. *Studio classes in the Art Department involve elaborate setup, clean up, and environmental and mechanical safety issues. This takes instructional time from the beginning and end of each class session. For that reason it is Art Department’s policy that we meet four hours, rather than three hours, for one unit of credit. Not repeatable. COURSE OBJECTIVES At the completion of the course the student will be able to: Apply observation skills. (eye-hand coordination) Construct individual solutions to compositional problems. Develop control of the medium of acrylic paint. Identify various art histories, both historical and contemporary. Distinguish between realism, photo-realism, organic abstraction, geometrical abstraction, and abstracted realism. Analyze and apply individual style to painting. Communicate the nature of color through painting and discussion.
