* Studio classes in the Art Department involve elaborate setup, clean up, and environmental and mechanical safety
issues. This takes instructional time from the beginning and end of each class session. For that reason it is Art
Department’s policy that we meet four hours, rather than three hours, for one unit of credit.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides advanced art students with the opportunity to pursue their artistic vision on a
more intense and individual basis in the media of: ceramics, photography, painting, drawing and
composition,painting or sculpture and ceramics. These particular disciplines require a materials fee.
May be repeated two times.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of the course the student will be able to:
Demonstrate advanced skill in the handling of drawing and composition, ceramics, form and color, and painting.
Synthesize an individual aesthetic from personal, course, and research information.
Critically analyze and assess art work of peers, contemporary, and historical sources.
Communicate originality and independence in artworks.
