Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The grant-funded Science Delivery Project involves communicating current land management science information and providing problem solving between researchers and managers within the Great Basin (GB) in Nevada. The Coordinator, Science Delivery Project and the Manager, Science Delivery Project reports to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project located in the Natural Resources and Environmental Science (NRES) department at the University of Nevada, Reno. Range 2: The Coordinator, Science Delivery Project, directs and coordinates enhanced communication and problem solving and ensures that information and data can be directly accessed for timely sciencebased land management decisions. Range 3 (in addition to above R2): The Manager, Science Delivery Project, manages the grant activities and budget, writes annual reports for submission to funding agency, and develops and prepares renewals for future project funding. Level of Freedom: Range 2: The Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining communication with and providing information to customers within and outside of the University on a daily basis. The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. After parameters are set, the Coordinator uses some independent judgment in making decisions regarding information communicated, organization of workshops and field tours, and delivery of technical assistance to customers. The PI/supervisor advises on more complex questions received from customers and future project development. Range 3 (in addition to above R2): The Manager manages the grant budget, including developing requests for changes to budget, and gathering information and writing required reports for funding agency. The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. The Manager selects scientists and their work to be included as seminar participants. The Manager must be knowledgeable in Federal and University contracting regulations and guidelines and uses independent judgment in making decisions regarding management of the budget, hiring of staff and direction on content for the website. The PI/supervisor is involved with future project development and final approval of budget change requests to funding agency. Because of the high visibility to the public, the position has a direct impact on the perception of the project, department, college, and University. Inadequate performance may result in contractual obligation failures and dissatisfaction resulting in loss of future funding. Range 3 (in addition to above R2): Errors in budget formulation, expenditures and future funding requests would cause a loss of future project funding and discontinuation of project. Errors in data collection and reporting would result in misinformation given to customers and the funding agency and a loss of credibility of the unit and University. 4.
