Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Coordinator, Outreach Technologies, aids in the planning, development, and implementation of technologically innovative services for the Savitt Medical Library, including expansion of the virtual library environment, support for mobile applications, creation of online tutorials for self-directed learning, fostering of mechanisms to increase knowledge sharing, communication, and collaboration within the University of Nevada School of Medicine (UNSOM) community. Working closely with library faculty and staff, the position focuses on the discovery, assessment, and integration of new approaches for the delivery of information resources and educational services. This position reports to the Director of the Savitt Medical Library under the Dean of Libraries. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Level of Freedom The Coordinator, Outreach Technologies, works closely with the Director of Savitt Medical Library in the development of content for websites, mobile apps, and other applicable technologies. This position has latitude in the selection of appropriate technologies to deliver library content, instruction, and services and in the design and presentation of information. The incumbent must work independently, with initiative, and with oversight from the Director. Impact The work product of the Coordinator, Outreach Technologies is very visible to users – students, faculty, and community -- of the Savitt Medical Library and its offsite services. Decisions and performance have a direct impact on the student learning experience and indirectly on instruction. Decisions impact the unit’s ability to provide quality programs and services, which in turn impact the academic success of UNSOM. 4.
