September 21, 2006
The Board of Trustees of the Houston Community College System held a Board Search Committee on
Thursday, September 21, 2006 at the System Administration Building, Second Floor Seminar Room
A, 3100 Main, Houston, Texas.

CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Bruce Austin, Committee Chair called the meeting to order at 3:38 p.m. and declared the Board
convened to consider matters pertaining to the Houston Community College System as listed on the
duly posted meeting notice.
Dr. Nielsen informed that several administrators (two staff persons from Human Resources and one
from Procurement) have reviewed the submittals. He expressed the imperativeness of following the
timeline identified for the permanent Chancellor search and expressed that the search firm would need
to be selected as soon as possible in order be in place prior to the holidays.
Motion – Mr. Davila motioned and Mr. Austin seconded to recommend Association of Community
Colleges Trustees (ACCT) as the Executive Search Firm to conduct the permanent Chancellor search.
The motion passed with a vote of 2-0.
It was noted that Mr. Austin will present an outline on the engagement of the community in the
selection process.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further actions coming before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 3:48 pm.
