What We Learned
This Week…
Math – This week we reviewed the base and height of
different types of triangles and learned how to find the
area of triangles and the area of shaded parts. Next week,
we will begin our new unit on algebra.

Reading – In our book clubs we continued reading and
discussing Avi books. We discussed and evaluated the craft
Avi uses in his books. To conclude our author study, we are
having a novel museum next week.

Spirit Day - Hawaiian / Beach Day
School Store open during lunch
Family Fun Festival 3:00 - 8:00
Writing – We continued our literary essay writing unit by
discussing how to write comparison literary essays. We
made claims about Avi and used evidence from his books
to support these claims.
May Birthdays
Science – This week we began our astronomy unit by
learning about the layers of the Earth's atmosphere. We
also learned about the Earth's rotation and revolution.
Then we observed the phases of the moon.
