We will hold a general session in the auditorium from 5:30 to 6:00 pm where we will introduce new faculty and staff as well as hold a general PTO meeting. We are asking that parents attend the Open House without their children in order for the teachers to focus on curriculum and management items with our parents. Babysitting will be available in the cafeteria during Open House. Wilson Montessori Mission Statement The Woodrow Wilson community is a diverse, student-centered environment dedicated to the promotion of safety, high achievement, creativity and teamwork in learning. We encourage all children to become responsible citizens and develop their individual strengths. Volunteer Information! Attendance and Absences The ADA (Average Daily Attendance) time at Wilson Montessori School is 9:15 daily. Each teacher is required to mark students either present or absent based on whether the student is present in the classroom at that time. Please note that if a student is absent, an excuse note must be sent to the school within 3 days. The reason for an excused absence must be given in writing and signed by the parent/guardian of the child. Acceptable excuses for absences are personal illness, illness or death in the family, weather or road conditions making the roads unsafe to travel, quarantine, or unusual circumstances approved by principal. Extended vacations or family travel are not considered excused and could jeopardize magnet status. Tip of the Week It is very important to remember that YOU are your child’s most important role model. If you follow the rules, your child is more likely to follow the rules! A great way to demonstrate a very important safety rule– please use crosswalks when walking to and from the building. Mr. Awesome’s Science Corner! The World in Motion This week in science we will be exploring periodic motion, things that move back and forth in a regular way. The students will participate in demonstrations, and perform experiments to figure out pendulum behavior. Be sure to ask your children about the “Nose Wrecker”! :) Words to watch for: Force, Gravity, Oscillate, Pendulum, Period Page 2 The Paw Print
