In order to work in your child’s classroom and to chaperone any field
trips, you need to be registered with Volunteers in Public Schools
(VIPS). Please follow the steps listed below so you can be an active
member in your child’s learning community.
3. Once you are cleared, you can work in our community!
Please note that the criminal history background check can take up to
three weeks to be completed, so please plan ahead and register early.
Reminder: Parents who have been cleared through the VIPS procedure in prior years must submit a current proof of ID. Please come
by the main office to submit your current proof of ID so you can be
reinstated in the VIPS system.
Monthly Perfect Attendance
Acknowledgement
As we all know, attendance counts! As an element of our effort to
acknowledge students who have perfect attendance, we have developed a plan which will recognize students on a monthly basis. We
want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to be acknowledged each month. Students with September perfect attendance will
be receiving a free dress bracelet as a token of acknowledgement.
Look for next week’s message about attendance before and after a
school holiday!

PTO Reminders!
Party at Antidote: Help us start our year with a BANG!! Join fellow
Wilson Montessori staff, parents, and students at Antidote on Sunday,
September 20th from 3 pm to 6 pm. Food, fun, and great music will be
available. This community event is a fundraiser that will replace selling
items such as Entertainment Books and cookie dough, so we need
your participation!!
Fall Festival: Our annual Fall Festival and Lantern Walk will be held
in early November!. This event continues to get better every year with
parents like YOU!! Please watch the PTO corner for information about
Fall Festival meetings.
Target REDcard: Did you know that Wilson Montessori gets a check
every year from Target? Parents and community members who link
their REDcard account to Wilson, School ID # 98808, allow Target to
donate 1% of each linked card sale directly to Wilson! If you have a
REDcard, please link to Wilson Montessori School!
Virtue of the Week
Each week of this school year we will be focusing on a virtue or admirable quality
that we would like to see model in our community. This week we are discussing
the virtue of respect. Respect is an attitude of caring about people and treating
them with dignity. Respect is valuing ourselves and others. We show respect by
speaking with courtesy.
Our virtue of the week for next week is peacefulness. Peacefulness is an inner
sense of calm. It comes especially in quiet moments of reflection or gratitude. It is
getting very quiet and looking at things so you can understand them. Peacefulness
is also a way of approaching conflict with others so that no one is made wrong. It
is being fair to others and yourself.
We hope that you and your family members are having great conversations using
the virtue of the week!

As you plan your week, take
a look at the HISD food
menu to see when/if your
child will eat a school lunch.
If you choose to pack a
lunch, please be aware that
we do not allow sodas of any
kind. We would also encourage you to include more protein and fruit rather than
cookies and chips.
Hot and Cold Running Science
This week in science we will be exploring temperature and
density. Students will participate in demonstrations, and perform experiments to figure out how changing temperature affects different things. Be sure to ask your children about levitating bags and exploding starch! :)
