A Peek into Spencer Loomis Fifth Grade – September 24, 2015

Literacy – Students continue to learn the routines and procedures of the district literacy
program. Strategies and procedures include reading conversations, stop and jot, and turn and
talk.
•
Math – Students are working on Module 2. This includes the study of fractions and decimal
fractions (decimals).
•
Social Studies – Students continue to study events in U.S. history related to the American
Revolution.
•
Earth Science – Students are learning about space topics including the moon and the sun.
There will be a full eclipse of the moon on Sunday at 9:11pm. This type of eclipse will not
happen again until 2033!
•
Student Council - Applications are due Monday, September 28.
•
MAP testing - Monday, September 28 and Tuesday, September 29.
