Literacy
The class is enjoying the
fantasy/mystery of The 68 Rooms by
Marianne Malone! As we read this
great novel we are practicing reader
response, discussion, and recognizing
signposts.

Social Studies
We visited our 7th grade buddies at
the middle school this week! It was
fun to travel over there and see how
excited the kids got just to be in the
building! Both classes shared and
revised writing together.
We did a mini-simulation of
escaping on the Underground
Railroad! Only two kids made it to
Canada, a good representation of
how many actual slaves are estimated
to have been successful in escaping.
We continue our study of slavery
with close reading and interpretation
of primary source documents. There
will be a test coming up on textbook
Chapter 14: A Divided Nation.
Math
This week in math we finished the
Module on subtracting decimals and
coordinate grids. Next week we will
begin long division and metric
