Math
Reading
We are off to a great start with our
Launching unit in the Fundamentals by
Schoolwide curriculum! During the first
lessons, the children were able to
appreciate the books that we read and
have procedures to help care for them.
We learned about book handling as well
as storing, returning, and caring for the
books we have in our classroom.
We have finished Module 1
in our Origo curriculum.
We reviewed the numbers
1 to 5, matched quantities
to the numbers, and read
number names. We played
many games in our Math
center to reinforce these
skills. Also, we spent time
sorting objects in different
ways. The children had fun
sorting themselves into
groups by the colors of their
clothes!
Writing
We have been doing such an excellent job writing our names the
“kindergarten” way – with an uppercase letter at the beginning and
lowercase letters for the rest. In the next couple weeks, I will be introducing
Handwriting Without Tears. I’m sure the students will be excited to use our
mini chalkboards, journals, and iPad’s to correctly form our letters!
Science & Social Studies
Next week, we will talk about what scientists do, and see ourselves as
scientists. As September comes to an end and October begins, we
will also be doing a lot of learning and fun activities about apples!
Popcorn Words
Popcorn words (sight words) are the words that should “pop” into our heads quickly as we read!
Currently, we are practicing:

and sing the songs at home!
