Principal’s Newsletter Seth Paine March Lake Zurich School District 95 Marching Along “I have a place where dreams are born, And time is never planned. It’s not on any chart, You must find it with your heart. Never Never Land” Volume 1, Issue 7 3/1/16 Upcoming Events: If, like me, you were fortunate enough to have attended this year’s Seth Paine musical, you may have recognized the above as a song from the performance. This year’s production was, once again, a wonderful representation of what our students are capable of when they work hard and are pushed to reach their full potential. This amazing cast should feel great pride in their accomplishments and perseverance! Please see page three for photos from the dress rehearsal (courtesy of Bill and Laura Choi). This month should be busy and productive here at Seth Paine. We look forward to the many events and activities planned throughout the month. As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that may arise. You can reach me at 847-438-2163 or marie.rothermel@lz95.org. Mrs. Suzanne Weider, a first grade teacher partnered with Mrs. Kim Tomczyk in the demonstration classroom, was chosen by colleagues. Below is a portion of what was read at the Board meeting. “Mrs. Weider cares about people, at Seth Paine Elementary School and throughout District 95. She takes the time to model the essence of a quality leader and makes every effort to instill excellence at all levels. Through leadership and effective communication skills, she promotes continuous learning and professional expectations. She continues to consistently set high standards for herself, her colleagues, and our students. She has made a dramatic difference at Seth Paine Elementary School. It is our pleasure to honor Suzanne Weider for the Seth Paine Staff Member of the Month Award. Honoring Dr. Seuss In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday on Wednesday, March 2, our school lunch provider (Sodexho) will be serving up a special lunch. Students will be offered Green Eggs & Ham, Sam I Am, One Fish, Two Fish Strawberry Banana French Toast Sticks, Hop on Pop Chef Salad, or Fun on the Run. Students participating in school lunch will have the chance to guess how many “red fish” are in the jar to win 2 Premiere Movie Tickets from Regal Cinemas! Coloring sheet handouts will also add to the fun. Help us celebrate this much beloved children’s author! February Student of the Month Each month District 95 asks every building to select a student who represents our District Mission of “Being a responsible, caring citizen in a global community”. For the month of February, Seth Paine selected 1st Grader, Ryan. “Caring, compassionate, conscientious, continuous learner—these are the best words to describe first grader, Ryan. Ryan is a kind friend whom other children enjoy working with in the classroom. His thoughtful manners don’t just extend to his classmates, but to the adults in the school as well. Ryan has a growth mindset and enjoys the challenges presented in his class. During the science unit, he went above and beyond by extending his learning at home with an experiment on temperature and changing states of matter. Ryan’s cheerful disposition and “can do” attitude have a positive influence to make our classroom a great place to learn for everyone.” Volume 1, Issue 7 Page 3 Peter Pan *Photos courtesy of Bill and Laura Choi Teachers Make A Difference Award Parents and students of District 95 are invited to nominate a teacher for the 2015-16 Teachers Make a Difference Award.
