POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Coordinator, CSD Support Services Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional C JOB SUMMARY: Schedule, develop and train sign language interpreters/interns, tutors and note-takers (district-wide) for Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD) department. Ensure assigned staff and interns are performing in the specialized manner needed for the success of students with disabilities. Key member in planning and implementing strategies for department growth and staff professionalism. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 35% 1. Provide direct day-to-day supervision of full-time and part-time sign language interpreters and interns. Coordinate work schedules and ensure CSD services are being provided at the different multi-campuses. Verify staff work completion; recruit for and screen part-time sign language interpreters and interns and recommend for hire. Provide professional development, coaching and management and evaluation of sign language interpreters. 2. Monitor note-taking and tutoring support services; work and communicate with staff short/long term goals and objectives. Develop and implement El Paso Community College procedures and guidelines and ensure staff compliance. Provide administrative guidance within area of responsibility and resolve scheduling and staff issues. 20% 3. Develop and organize staff trainings and department orientations. Maintain training/promotional materials, fliers and forms. Organize, develop and provide presentations and serve on college committees. 15% 4. Serve as liaison with other College departments, faculty, and community organizations. Retrieve and compile data, prepare and submit reports and/or communications. 15% 5. Conduct department evaluations for interns and participate in the tutors and note-takers evaluations. 10% 6. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Desired: State of Texas Certification (BEI) Basic or Level I in American Sign Language. Master College Reading Learning Association (CRLA) tutor certification. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Fluent in American Sign Language; Excellent communication, written and verbal and interpersonal skills; Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office; Experience in adult education; Experience in working with persons with disabilities; Ability to communicate and interact with individuals at all levels of the institution; Ability to have initiative and self-direction to perform all areas of responsibility; Ability to work in a diverse environment and be sensitive to issues of diversity and inclusion. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with an office environment to include video phones. 3. Software Used: A variety of spreadsheet, word-processing, database, e-mail, and presentation software (PowerPoint), Publisher.
