This would ensure that students have met the requirements before taking upper-division major coursework. The pre-major is being replaced by a profesional phase. The intent is that students who are not prepared can be identified early enough to be redirected towards a more appropriate major. The course number is also changed from 43492 because 92 courses are reserved for practicum-internship courses and this is a lecture course with clinical observation as an assignment. The description is changed to remove the word "lab". Explain how this proposal affects program requirements and students in your unit: Students will have to meet the requirements to be admitted into the professional phase before progressing through the upper-level coursework. Program requirements will be changed to reflect the new course number. Explain how this proposal affects courses, program requirements and student in other units: No impact; no other programs require this course. Explain how this proposal affects enrollment and staffing: No impact. Units consulted (other departments, programs or campuses affected by the proposal): None.
