Proposal Summary
Explain the purpose for this proposal:
The purpose of this proposal is to revise the prerequisites by restricting the course to admission into the professional phase.
This would ensure that students have met the requirements before taking upper-division major coursework. The pre-major
is being replaced by a profesional phase. The intent is that students who are not prepared can be identified early enough to
be redirected towards a more appropriate major. The course number is also changed from 43492 because 92 courses are
reserved for practicum-internship courses and this is a lecture course with clinical observation as an assignment. The
description is changed to remove the word "lab".
Explain how this proposal affects program requirements and students in your unit:
Students will have to meet the requirements to be admitted into the professional phase before progressing through the
upper-level coursework. Program requirements will be changed to reflect the new course number.
Explain how this proposal affects courses, program requirements and student in other units:
No impact; no other programs require this course.
Explain how this proposal affects enrollment and staffing:
No impact.
Units consulted (other departments, programs or campuses affected by the proposal):
None.
