Briar Creek at Chantilly
Water quality improvements
Flood-prone land along Briar Creek and Edwards
Branch near Monroe Road is about to undergo an
environmental transformation.
City and County Storm Water Services teams
will restore more than 4,000 feet of stream. Water
quality ponds will be added to the floodplain to
remove contaminants. The project site formerly
housed one-half of the Doral Apartments and all
of the Cavalier Apartments.
The creeks will still flood in that area. This project,
expected to be completed in the fall of 2015, is to
improve water quality. Funding comes from
Charlotte-Mecklenburg
Storm Water Services
fees.
