Alanhurst/Cherrycrest storm drainage improvement project March 28, 2012 YOUR STORM WATER FEES AT WORK Dear Resident, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services held its first public meeting for the Alanhurst/Cherrycrest Storm Drainage Improvement Project on March 1, 2012 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. The project goals are to reduce flooding of streets and structures, as well as reduce erosion along the stream and channel (by stabilization) where needed. The meeting provided the opportunity to present the results of the existing conditions analysis and receive resident input and suggested solutions. Meeting highlights: • Project Manager Susan Tolan welcomed the attendees, introduced the project team and explained the history and the purpose of the project. • Scott Sigmon, Project Manager for the City’s design consultant, WK Dickson, presented the results of the existing conditions analysis. 1. Additional catch basins are needed in the streets to address excessive spread. 2. The Alanhurst and Cherrycrest crossings are inadequate to pass the design flows without surcharging the system. 3. Several structures are potentially impacted by flooding. • A question and answer session was held.
