Alanhurst/Cherrycrest storm drainage improvement project YOUR STORM WATER FEES AT WORK March 30, 2012 Dear Resident, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services held its first public meeting for the Alanhurst/Cherrycrest Storm Drainage Improvement Project on March 1, 2012 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. The project goals are to reduce flooding of streets and structures, as well as reduce erosion along the stream and channel (by stabilization) where needed. The meeting provided the opportunity to present the results of the existing conditions analysis and receive resident input and suggested solutions. Meeting highlights: • Project Manager Susan Tolan welcomed the attendees, introduced the project team and explained the history and the purpose of the project. • Scott Sigmon, Project Manager for the City’s design consultant, WK Dickson, presented the results of the existing conditions analysis. 1. Additional inlets are needed in the streets to reduce the ponded water in the streets 2. The Alanhurst and Cherrycrest pipe crossings are not sized sufficiently to convey the design flows without overtopping the streets. 3. Several structures are potentially impacted by flooding. • A question and answer session was held.
