If an ESFR sprinkler system is installed and the smoke and heat vents are removed then the 400 foot travel distance does not apply. Section 421 This section and the requirements of an R-3 out of the Building Code or the Residential Code can be used to meet the requirements of these occupancies. No single piece of plastic shall be larger than 300 Sq. Ft. and separated from other pieces of plastic by 4’-0” vertically and by at least a mullion horizontally. A toilet room is not required to be separated from a fire resistant corridor if 1) the toilet is separated from the rest of the building by wall constructed as corridor walls, 2) No other rooms open off the toilet room, 3) Contains no gas or electrical appliances(except hand dryers) 4) the toilet room is used for no other purpose than for which it was designed.
