CODE ISSUES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING
 When a garage is enclosed to make a heated sales office for a residential
development are receptacles required to meet the receptacle spacing per
Article 210? What would the receptacle spacing requirements be in the

Garages or similar areas of a house that are heated and used as a sales office will
be treated as habitable space. This will require the area to be wired with
receptacles spaced according to Article 210. Any desk or counter top space unless designated as a kitchen area will meet Article 210. Since this area is being
wired as habitable space, no GFCI protection on outlets will be required. If any
room or area has a space enclosed that could be considered as a closet, then this
room or area will have to be treated as a bedroom which requires a smoke detector
and AFCI protection on the circuits.
 Duke Power request for help: See Attached Sheet
 Duke has also asked us to warn contractors that if they are caught
hooking up temp power connections from the saw service to the house
for anything other than testing(i.e. being left hooked up for convenience)
they will disconnect saw service and require a new permit.
 Update on Contractor failure rate: See Attached Sheets
In researching the failure rate for contractors we have discovered that the
chargeable failure box with a check mark means that the General Contractor will be
charged for the failed inspection trip. These charges are billed to him at the end of
the job. The failure rate that affects the trade contractor is automatically resulted
by the system based on the inspector results.
All failures listed under W, X, Y or Z are non-chargeable and do not affect the
contractor failure rate. They are neutralizer codes and if used in conjunction with
any other Compliance Code Defect they will wipe them out.
Inspectors will need to begin resulting all W, X, Y and Z defects in the notes only if
job has any other defect codes (i.e. 03 thru 90).
AGENDA
 680.74 Bonding. If a hydro massage tub is non-metallic, has plastic water
pipes and has a double-insulated motor - what exactly will
the equipotential bond apply to?
 When using GFCI receptacles for the two required kitchen circuits, is it
possible to use 12/3 AWG NM_B cables to achieve this? What if I were to
use GFCI breakers?
