CODE ISSUES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING

Delta Hi Leg Systems:

408.36(E) A 3-phase disconnect or overcurrent device shall not be connected to the bus of any panelboard that has less than 3-phase buses. Delta breakers shall not be installed in panelboards.

408.3(E) The phase arrangement on 3-phase buses shall be A, B, C from front to back, top to bottom, or left to right, as viewed from the front of the switchboard or panelboard. The B phase shall be that phase having the higher voltage to ground on

3-phase, 4-wire, delta-connected systems. Other busbar arrangements shall be permitted for additions to existing installations and shall be marked.

110.15 On a 4-wire, delta-connected system where the midpoint of one phase winding is grounded, only the conductor or busbar having the higher phase voltage to ground shall be durably and permanently marked by an outer finish that is orange in color or by other effective means. Such identification shall be placed at each point on the system where a connection is made if the grounded conductor is also present.

We will continue discussion on the following at August 1 meeting:

What is the policy on replacing a damaged meter can when the old existing SE cable exceeds the permissible length of unfused conductor? Is replacing the meter can only sufficient or should a panel also be installed so that the old SE will have overcurrent protection?

Is it permissible to use Table 310.15 (B) (6) on a feeder to a sub panel at a single family residence?

Is a new circuit required to be run on a water heater replacement that is fed with an existing non-grounded circuit or is it permissible to run a separate ground wire to the nearest grounding electrode?

AGENDA

What is the policy on replacing a damaged meter can when the old existing SE cable exceeds the permissible length of unfused conductor? Is replacing the meter can only sufficient or should a panel also be installed so that the old SE will have overcurrent protection?

Is it permissible to use Table 310.15 (B) (6) on a feeder to a sub panel at a single family residence?

Is a new circuit required to be run on a water heater replacement that is fed with an existing non-grounded circuit or is it permissible to run a separate ground wire to the nearest grounding electrode?

Are you required to wire an unfinished area that contains a fireplace?

Is WP ground based on largest ungrounded Service-Entrance Conductor or the largest sum of the areas of the corresponding conductors of each set?
