Imaging Activity in Edinburgh

At least 12 groups crossing all the Colleges:
– Integrated Imaging at Edinburgh - A Glimpse of the Future: 26
September 2003.
– Neuroscience (Informatics – Centre for Functional Imaging
Studies)
– Clinical work: cardiology, inflammation, psychiatry…
– Genomics
– Cognitive studies

Supporting large-scale image collections still needs research:

Search (classifying, learning, mining)
Incorporating spatial and temporal information.
Curation: provenance, annotation, archive
Management: sharing and publishing data
Informatics Role in Imaging Studies


Institute for Adaptive and Neural Computation (IANC),
Laboratory for Foundations of Computer Science (LFCS)
together with NeSC and National Digital Curation Centre have
the potential to make contributions to the platform technology
to support imaging studies.
Informatics institutes research includes imaging as a research
tool:
– Bio-/Neuro-Informatics in (IANC)
– Cognitive studies (ICCS)

Imaging currently the subject of a Wellcome Trust application
for an Imaging centre in the new building. The goal is:
– To develop platform technologies to support imaging studies.
– To use the imaging platform to support imaging groups in Edinburgh
– To develop Informatics work in Systems Biology and Cognitive
Studies.
