Evidence from an Emerging Economy Yu-Shu Peng Through the lenses of the resource-based view and stakeholder theory, this study aims to answer a major question “Is CSR resource-driven or stakeholder-driven?” by constructing an antecedent model of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Panel data for this study pertain to 103 Taiwanese electronics firms from 2001 to 2008. Evidence shows that financial liquidity, firm size, internationalization, foreign shareholding, competitors commitment to CSR positively influence the level of firm’s CSR, indicating both RBV and stakeholder theory can interpret CSR engagement.
