Proceedings of Annual Tokyo Business Research Conference 15 - 16 December 2014, Waseda University, Tokyo, japan, ISBN: 978-1-922069-67-2 Succession Process for Traditional Local Family Owned Business in Chiang Mai Panomporn Chalermwan* and Nattaphan Kecharananta** This research aims to study the processes of the succession plan and management hand over of a traditional family owned business in Chiang Mai, as well as to study key success factors of entrepreneur in family-run business. The method of this study is mainly qualitative by focusing on in-dept interview. This research, found that this family-run business started their succession plan by having their younger generations familiar with the business at the beginning. Firstly, the owner let them use the company's property as their playground then gave them the introduction to their future company. After that, the owner asked his successors in line to help and work in the company during every weekend and holiday. They were rotated and assigned to work in different departments. They were taken care of by mentors in differents department.
