Briefly tell about your family history:
My name is Lori Boudreau I was born in Fresno, CA. I was the 2nd of 2
children born to Patricia & Ken Philips. I don’t know how many people have
gone to college in my family. I am the 1st nurse in my family. I graduated
from FSC/CSUF in 1987. I obtained my BSN Degree. I married Michael
Boudreau; we have 2 children, Michelle age 18 and Lauren age 15. I
worked at Fresno Community Hospital as an ICU nurse from 1988-1999.
Now I currently work in the ICU at French Hospital in San Luis.
List any student nurse experiences you may remember and any faculty:
I did my senior focus in the E.R. at Valley Medical Center. George Nunez
was my preceptor. He proved to be a wealth of knowledge.
How do you feel about nursing then and now, and in the future?
Nursing, especially critical care nursing has been a perfect match for me.
The schedule is great and the pay is decent. I have found that nursing is like
a big window into humanity.
Any bits of wisdom you have learned over the years? (if you have
changed profession, how has your nursing education helped?)
Be an advocate. Be the expert. Patients and families involved in critical care
are vulnerable and can benefit from the stabilizing influence of a great nurse.
