and economic enterprise and the ability of U.S. business to
prosper in an international economy.
ABOUT CIBER

Created by Congress in 1988 to increase and promote nation’s capacity
for international understanding and competitiveness.

In 2014, the U.S. Department of Education awarded Smith the CIBER
grant for the fourth time, supporting global enrichment opportunities for
students and faculty through 2018 with $1 million.

Smith CIBER is one of 17 CIBERs nationwide.

Smith CIBER serves as a regional and national resource to businesses in
Maryland and beyond, as well as students and faculty of Smith and
partner institutions.
