Lee Convenor, JPEG; Yahoo! /USA Session: Opening Session Title of Presentation: JPEG Family of Image Coding Standards: Retrospective and New Developments Daniel T. Lee received the B.S. degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, in 1973 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, in 1975 and 1980, respectively. He held a number of management positions at Hewlett-Packard Company, including Manager of Imaging Technology at HP Labs, Director of R&D of HP Internet Imaging Operation, and developed the HP OpenPix Imaging products as well as HP Photo hosting services. He is currently the Director of Operations Engineering for Yahoo! in North Asia. He is in charge of all infrastructure and technical operations for Yahoo! in the region. Dr. Lee is currently the Convener of the ISO/IEC JTC1 SC29/WG1 – JPEG Standards Committee. Since 1996, he has led a group of over 100 experts from over 18 countries that developed the ISO JPEG 2000 family of imaging standard.
